New Pond Construction
There are many "pond builders" out there that have a "My Way or
the Highway" attitude. They have a cookie cutter mentality and only
know one way to build. Unfortunately, the customer may not get
what they really want. When we sit down with a client our
first goal is to listen to find out what your big concerns are. We
address those concerns, then we offer more ideas to make your pond
the healthiest environment for your koi and easiest for you to
maintain.
-
Retrofit/Conversion
Our most used service is the "Nightmare Conversion". We
transform your existing pond from a sore subject that generates
stress, arguments, and more maintenance than you have time for into
a low-maintenance, energy-efficient private oasis where you can get
away simply by coming home.
-
Cleanings
A cleaning consists of safely removing the fish, draining the
pond, cleaning all surfaces, removing all debris, and cleaning the
filter as-needed. Fish health and equipment condition will be
evaluated as well. As all ponds are different in size and
complexity, the cost is assessed on a pond-by-pond basis. A base
rate for this service is $300, which includes the first 4 man-hours.
-
Maintenance
Pet Fish offers 4 maintenance plans: semi-annual (spring/fall),
monthly, bi-monthly, or by appointment. Before any maintenance
plan is offered Pet Fish requires a cleaning and system analysis be
done. As all ponds are not created equal and every backyard
environment is unique we must do this first. For example, a
pond that is surrounded by 10 deciduous trees and no skimmer will
obviously require more time than a pond in a backyard with no trees.
All maintenance plans include water test, equipment check, filter
backwash, empty skimmers, and visual koi health check. Scheduled
food deliveries are optional. This service also includes an annual
changing of your UV lights (cost of lamp not included).
Plans do not include microscope work without contacting the owner
first for a price consultation.

Koi Health /
Water Testing
Our experience operating a 20 acre koi farm for 4 years coupled
with our regular attendance of koi health educational seminars has
enhanced our ability to detect health problems with your koi. We
have been trained on koi behavior that leads to the detection of
parasitic activity in koi. We have also been trained to use
microscopes to determine the type of parasite invading your pond and
the treatment it requires.
